Yellow Cedar

Recently re-classified into the Cupressus genus, this timber is a light yellow in colour, stable and durable to very durable. Alaskan Yellow cedar is a slow grown timber that is easy to work, carves well and is quite light in weight. In the UK it mainly finds a use for boat decks. Leyland Cypress is a hybrid of this tree and Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa).
