Northern Yellow Poplar
Sometimes called ‘Tulipwood’ or ‘Canary Whitewood’, Yellow Poplar does in fact display wide colour variations, including olive green, purple and even black colouration in the heartwood. Growing in the Northern states of Indiana and Illinois, the cooler summers and longer, colder winters lead to slower grown timber with a higher density, firmer texture, improved machining properties and enhanced stability when compared to Tulipwood from southern States of the USA and Appalachia.
