Jelutong
This wood is much prized for pattern making and model making. Jelutong is a large tree that produces good sized clear boards, that are very stable and work and carve easily and cleanly. Jelutong is also of low density, so ideal for large patterns or models where excessive weight could be a problem. The only drawback feature is the presence of small latex traces, slit shaped holes that appear on tangential faces of the boards. They are easily filled but mar the appearance, however are not graded as a defect.
