False Acacia
This timber which also grows in the USA where it is known as ‘Black locust’, is a very dense hard and durable timber especially in freshwater applications such as jetty piles or decking. The tree is small, so long lengths of squared timbers are difficult, but longer round poles are frequently used for playground climbing frames. The colour is an olive-yellowbrown and can also be steamed when the colour darkens to grey-brown.
