American Cherry
A high class cabinet wood that combines a rich pinkish red colour which deepens with age, with a fine even texture and excellent working, finishing and polishing properties. However American Cherry takes stain unevenly, and darkens rapidly if exposed to sunlight, making careful positioning, and placing of timber when working a project essential. The sapwood is yellow and frequently present, so wastage factors may be quite high if sapwood must be excluded. Gum streaks are also commonly present and must be accepted as an innate feature of this timber.
