Wenge
A fascinating dark and intense timber. When freshly sawn the timber is yellow, but rapidly darkens to a very dark brown with lighter bands of ochre hues. Radial faces are very finely banded and provide the darkest colour, whereas tangential faces show the paler banding more visibly to give a livelier appearance. Dense, hard, and stable, Wenge is strikingly different.
