Utile
Utile is a ‘Red’ Hardwood from West Africa in the same family (Meliaceae) as Mahogany, and is a deep reddish brown in colour with a slightly coarse even texture and grain that is straight to interlocked. Utile machines well, finishes, stains and takes paint well, and is durable and stable in service. It can show a beautiful flowery figure on tangential (crown) surfaces. A high class timber.
