American Red Oak

A timber that is even more abundant than White Oak, and grows mainly in North-eastern USA and South-eastern Canada. Red Oak is only suitable for interior work such as furniture, cabinetry and flooring. It machines, stains and finishes well, and is less expensive than White Oak, so is a popular timber in the USA, which could, and should be more widely used in the UK.
