Iroko

A very durable West African Timber, often considered as an alternative to Teak or Afrormosia. Iroko varies in colour from golden brown to medium brown, tending to darken with age. Used mainly for exterior joinery or garden furniture, Iroko tends to spring off the saw when re-sawn and on radial faces has interlocked grain. The dust is unpleasant, so efficient extraction is necessary when working this timber. Price level is low to medium for what is a good durable exterior grade timber.
